My New Year's Resolutions

It always bothers me slightly when people dismiss resolutions. "I don't have new years resolutions, I have goals," they say. Guess what, buddy, those are still resolutions no matter what you decide to call them. Personally, I think that new year's resolutions are a great idea. They are hard to stick to, yes, and if you want to change something in the middle of the year, by all means go ahead and change it. However, a new year is a fresh start and an opportunity to make positive changes in your life so that you can lead a happier and healthier 365 days.

1) Work towards better health: I have found that in order to be healthy you have to find a balance that works for you. I have gone through phases where I am extremely fit and healthy but that fizzles because it is impossible to keep up with. In order for health not to be a phase you have to make it a part of your lifestyle. In order to be healthier this year I am going to try to work out AT LEAST once a week. I have found that if I am too ambitious I just give up entirely, so giving myself a minimum will hopefully help me stay consistent. Although I am shooting to work out around 3 times a week.

I am going to be honest, I hate healthy food. I am not a fan of vegetables and carbs are the love of my life. But I LOVE the way healthy food makes me feel, therefore, I need to incorporate healthy eating into my lifestyle. I plan to do this by eating more fruit and vegetables, drinking more water and tea, and basically eating the cleanest I can. I am hoping to get a NutriBullet soon, so that way I can force myself to consume more vegetables by disguising them in juices and smoothies.

2) Read more books: It saddens me to think about how I was as a child, always reading, and now the only time I pick up a book is when I am frantically looking for answers to a homework question. I forget how much I love to read until I pick up a really good book, it gives you an escape from your troubles, broadens your mind and is just plain fun. I am not sure if I am going to do a reading challenge this year, or follow Essiebutton's example and go for one book a month (12 books in total), but I know that reading is going to be a part of my life again, for sure.

3) Be more productive: Sometimes I find my entire life blending together, and although I am not about to give up my pajama days, I do want to do more this year. I want to make more plans, see different places, make more YouTube videos, connect with more people, write more blog posts, make more music, finish decorating my room, the list goes on and on. Basically I want to be more productive with my time especially when school is out and I have a lot of it.

4) Be more positive: When school started in the fall of last year, I fell into a funk. I found myself always complaining, always playing the victim. Although being positive can be very hard at times, I am going to put in the effort to make the best out of every situation. I am going to allow myself the occasional rant because I think it is also important not to bottle up your frustrations, however, it is also important not to let negativity become a part of your personality. I am a firm believer in positive energy, and that what you put out into the universe comes right back to you. Don't spend your life counting down until Friday or your next break from school. Try to find the good in the ordinary because there is something good in every day.

I hope you enjoyed reading my new year's resolutions. You can expect a lot more blogging happening this year as I am completely inspired and full of ideas for this page. Thank you so much for reading!

A Fresh Start

I'm pretty sure that I started my first blog when I was around eight years old. Even back then I was addicted to creating, addicted to putting myself out into the world. I would write little updates about my life from time to time, and stories about cats. I loved, and still love, every aspect of having my own little universe with just the click of a button.

Today, at 19 years old, not much has changed. I have a YouTube channel with my sister, TwoYearsEightMonths, where we create fashion/beauty/lifestyle videos for 2,600 loving subscribers. I also intern for a college fashion website called CollegeFashionista, where I write weekly posts about fashion at my university. I'm pretty sure I spend the majority of my life online... which, I have to admit, I kind of love.

This is my first post on what I hope becomes the first blog I actually commit to. I want this to be a space where I can share my life as well as what I am passionate about, where I can ramble or just post photos I have taken. I have a good feeling about this fresh start and I am very excited to see where it goes.

xoxo,

Michelle
